Social Media Coordinator and Graphic Designer

Department: Communications
Location: Marina Del Rey, CA

Title: Social Media Coordinator and Graphic Designer

Reports to:  Web and Digital Media Manager

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative storyteller who is passionate about challenging injustices in the criminal legal system and lifting up the stories and voices of those most directly impacted by it. This role requires a deep understanding of social media voice, audience engagement, and the ability to tell stories in a variety of ways, from compelling written narrative to graphic design and photography. As a member of The Bail Project’s Communications Team, you will play an integral role in humanizing the cash bail crisis and helping us make the public argument for reform often and consistently for a wide range of audiences.

About The Bail Project

The Bail Project is a national nonprofit that combats mass incarceration by paying bail for people in need, enabling them to return home to their families and communities while awaiting court dates. Once a client is released on bail, we provide them court reminders, transportation assistance, and voluntary referrals for support resuming their lives. We call this model Community Release with Support.  We seek to secure freedom for an unprecedented number of people—and have already bailed out over 10,000 people—while pursuing advocacy to dismantle racially-biased, wealth-based pretrial detention. Through these efforts, we’re laying a strong foundation for systemic change to make our intervention no longer necessary.  Learn more about our vision for pretrial reform at https://bailproject.org/after-cash-bail/

The Team

We’re a community of advocates committed to ending mass incarceration and advancing racial and economic justice. Our organization is comprised of a central support team in Los Angeles, CA, and teams of client advocates or “Bail Disruptors” who work in their local communities to provide bail assistance and advance reform. This position will be a part of our growing Communications Team and will report directly to the Web and Digital Media Manager. The department is part of the central support team in Los Angeles but it currently operates remotely so there is some flexibility around location.
